Resawn Reclaimed Barn Wood Box Beams for Ceilings
"Resawn" is the term used when the beam is 're-sawn' to cut away the original face 'skin'. We use the original face skin of either hand hewn or rough sawn beams to make box beams, flooring, or a number of other custom products. As well, it could also refer to the method by which the original timber was dimensioned using a bandsaw as opposed to a circular saw (the latter would then be called rough sawn or circle sawn).
The solid core that remains is the resawn core.
In days-of-old, this resawn material often had heavy bandsaw chatter marks from the blade skipping or from a bent tooth. Our state of the art machines however leave very little if any chatter marks behind, leaving a smooth surface.

For a resawn box beam we cut another 'skin' of material away from the resawn beam core. The material can be left as-is, or we can additionally sand the surface and even apply a clear or custom color stained finish to it. If you would like a custom (colored) finish, you may order from this listing making sure to select the 'custom finish' option. Once your order is received Adam will call you to discuss the custom colored finish you desire and arrange for samples to be made for your approval. A custom finish is an involved process, and we never want to offer 'standard color ranges' since we can create literally anything in house.

All of our reclaimed material is from our own onsite 30,000sf inventory of American sourced reclaimed wood and is kiln dried, fumigated for powder post beetles, nylon brushed, and often power-washed (only if this step would not significantly remove the desired patina).
When you choose a size for your box beam in the configurator, the resulting custom box beam will be 1" smaller on the inside width and height dimensions. So, if you want a 6" wide face with a 6" depth to ceiling you should expect the inside dimensions to be approximately 1" smaller (5" x 5").

Lead Time To Ship:
8-12 weeks (from date of approved sample if a custom finish is selected). It does not take this much time to actually build your custom box beam of course. By placing your order here, you are securing your position in our production queue.
Shipping: Update: Update: Due to ever-increasing shipping prices, shipping is no longer included. All shipping, parcel or freight, will be quoted and charged separately.
Beams over 106 inches (108 including packaging) cannot ship by parcel (UPS/FedEx) and will need to be sent by flatbed (Less Than Truck Load or Full Truck Load Freight). Once your order is received we will run a shipping estimate through several LTL carriers and provide you with the separate shipping cost. This will be collected separately prior to shipment. Since there is such a delay between the shipping quote and the actual shipping date, carriers will not confirm or lock-in cost estimates that are not within 3 weeks of ship date. An updated shipping quote will be done three weeks prior to completion of production. Shipping costs (be they by parcel service (UPS or FedEx or LTL Freight) will be passed through to you as a separate transaction and due two weeks prior to completion. Please note, LTL shipping rates we are currently receiving start at $2,000. You have the option of receiving a full refund for your order so long as we have not begun production. Once production has begun on your custom order we cannot offer refunds.
